Our Mental Health Practitioner team are not commissioned to have consultations with anyone underthe age of 18. The following support places represent agencies who are able to give support to young people, either through referral by one of the healthcare team, as self-help points of contact or for parents and carers to get information and/or support for a family member or friend.

KOOTH: SOCIAL ANXIETY
Social anxiety is an overwhelming fear of social situations. It is sometimes referred to as ‘social phobia’. Social anxiety is so much more than not particularly liking social situations, feeling shy, or being naturally reserved. It can be a long-term issue that can have a real impact on someone's everyday life.

KOOTH: DEALING WITH SUICIDAL THOUGHTS
Having suicidal thoughts can be very scary and it can be difficult to know what to do. If you are currently having suicidal thoughts and feel you might act on them right now , we would encourage you to call 999 to get help/support.

KOOTH: PANIC ATTACKS
A panic attack is a feeling of really intense anxiety or fear. Panic attacks can happen very suddenly, and usually last between 5 and 20 minutes.

INVICTUS CLEAR COUNSELLING
Invictus CLEAR Counselling is for young people living in Cornwall aged between 11 and 21 who are struggling with issues that are affecting their mental health and wellbeing such as:
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Self-harm
- Relationship difficulties
- Learning Coping Skills
If Invictus CLEAR Counselling is the right service for you, they typically offer around 14 sessions, however this can vary according your needs and circumstances. Counselling can be face-to-face or online according to where you live and your personal circumstances. They do not provide face-to face counselling in your home but will arrange a mutually convenient time and venue..
They can also offer up to 6 sessions of counselling for the parents / carers of a young person being supported through this service.

NHS TALKING THERAPIES - CORNWALL
The NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Talking Therapies Service is a free, confidential service for people aged 16 years and over who are registered with a GP in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. They provide treatment for common mental health difficulties such as low mood, stress, and anxiety. You can refer yourself to this service without support from your GP.
